I am graciously accepting this wonderful accolade!!
I would like to thank my friend Jo Davies, @midlifehighway, midlifehighway.com for nominating me for the Sunshine Blogger Award. This is a very prestigious blogging award given by bloggers to bloggers who inspire creativity and positivity by bringing sunshine to the blogging community.
Okay so the award may not prestigious prestigious but rather more like super cool warm fuzzy feeling in your belly prestigious; but I will take it!
Jo was one of my first loyal followers when I began my blogging adventure on Instagram. She came aboard and always has a kind, supportive, encouraging thing to say. She comments on every post and her comments are always specific to the post proving she has actually read the whole thing. Jo has a unique sense of humor. She manages to extract humor out of the most basic situations. I especially enjoy her Friday segments of ‘What I Learned This Week’. Jo manages take us down this midlife highway adventure with positivity and a light happy spirit. She is a sheer delight. Oh…and she is a phenomenal writer too! You must check out her blog!
The winners of this lovely award have several requirements to fill. Once nominated, you must answer the questions asked by the person who nominated you. Here are my answers for you Jo!
Who is your hero?
Have you ever heard the song ‘Hero’ by Mariah Carey circa 1993? She sings about how there is a hero inside each and everyone of us. The odd thing is that this song was one of my 2 wedding songs. At the time, the whole ‘hero’ thing was about how I had found this great hero to be my husband. Can you say immature and naïve??? Like really??? Wow!!! (cringe)
Anyway, the irony is that throughout all these years of being married to this wonderful man and going through a multitude of ups and downs and downs and downs (chuckle), I became so incredibly strong, emotionally intelligent and capable that I now equate myself with being my OWN hero.
I have saved myself from a lifetime of self-induced limitations by overcoming a zillion insecurities. As a result, I now feel powerful enough to take on anyone and anything and that certainly sounds like the makings of a hero to me!
Do you have a skill or talent we don’t know about?
Yes I most certainly do!
I can do super amazing imitations of almost anyone!
I can speak 5 languages: English, French, Greek, Italian and German
I can play the Accordion.
(Yes, your read right…the Accordion)
What is the best thing that you have found since setting up your blog?
There are so many wonderful things I have found since setting up my blog but the bestest thing of all is having found this empowering community of strong, intelligent supportive midlifers that have become part of my daily living. We follow each other’s lives and we giggle and we cry and we learn and we grow. It is the epitome of women supporting women.
What is your favorite food and your worst food?
Favorite: Bread, cheese and wine
Worst: Meat (I stopped eating it since I got my little baby Indie Cat)
