Preserving Your Energies

A most integral part of self-love and self-care is the practiced art of preserving your energies.

Recognizing that our physical as well as our emotional energies are not limitless takes a little practice.

You know when you have depleted your energy stores in a particular area.  Physically, you suffer from exhaustion.  You may feel weak, dizzy, foggy and/or unproductive.  Emotionally, you may feel a lack of motivation, sad, hopeless and even numb.  These states all serve as signals that it is time to recharge and recalibrate.

With age and experience, many of us are better able to anticipate energy depletion on the horizon.  We are more aware of what drains us and how much energy something will require.  We become better adept at organizing our days, weeks and seasons according to this awareness and we create boundaries to preserve our precious energy stores.  We learn to distribute our energies where they will serve the highest good for ourselves and for others.

Eating healthily, getting enough sleep, drinking plenty of water and scheduling regular exercise will all help to restore and maintain your physical energy.

Having someone you can trust as a confidante can help you restore your emotional energy.  The feeling of being supported and understood without judgement can greatly help us strengthen a weakened emotional state.

Learning to conserve, preserve and distribute our energies is an essential part of our personal development and overall wellness journey.

Your energy is one of your most precious resources.  Choosing wisely how you distribute it, can become one of your greatest strengths.

Peace
