Looking For The Good

The world needs more of this.

We need more people who look for the good in others.

We need to reduce our level of defensiveness and readiness to attack.

We need to stop and think about what the other person’s life situation may be.

Everyone you meet is fighting a battle you know nothing about. Be kind, always.

Before you react to a situation in anger or frustration, try the following:

1 STOP

Stop, think and hold off on your reaction.

2 THINK

Think about why you are triggered and ask yourself if this more about you or about them?

3 EMPATHIZE

This can be a challenge especially when we are upset. We need to consider the other person’s possible life predicament and wonder what would cause them to behave this way and show empathy for that. Often times we have no clue about what another person is dealing with in their life.

4 REACT IN KINDNESS

If we do choose to react, we should do it in kindness while leaving the other person’s dignity intact. Take the highroad. If this is too difficult, stop the interaction altogether; wish them peace and move on.

We need to look for the good. We need to be the good.

That would be good…

Peace

  1. Yes I agree with you. It’s tough. I also agree with it being difficult sometimes to see the good in ourselves. Stopping to think before we react is something we should all practice. Thanks for the comment 🙂

  2. Our attitudes not only affect us but also affect those around us . We need to stay focused daily , no matter what the situation may be , and be thankful and positive . We need to encourage one another as well .
